Personal promotions

Visualize a future-proof design vision for Personal Promotions and define a focused MVP to start building.

UX Design

Jumbo.com

We kicked off with a stakeholder session to align on scope and share background on how personal promotions work. Through a Design Sprint, we co-created ideas using exercises like Crazy 8s, and quickly distilled key directions for the vision and MVP.

Key Insights

  • Simple and fun: Promotions should be easy to activate and feel rewarding — like unwrapping a gift.

  • No need for a separate logo: Visual elements (box, confetti, “Nu voor jou” tag) do the job.

  • Integrated experience: Personal promos belong in the regular promotions flow, not separated within Extra’s.

📦 Design Highlights

  • One-click activation with a playful unboxing animation.

  • Personal offers marked visually (not branded) for easy recognition.

  • Positioned within the promotions journey — not as a separate environment.

🔍 Hypotheses & Testing
We validated early concepts with user tests:

  1. Findability – 85% found Personal Promos on the home screen.

  2. Understanding “Nu voor jou” – ~50% correctly linked it to personal offers, though some associated it with “burn” mechanics. Advice was to make it more concreet and name it "Persoonlijke aanbiedingen".

  3. Expected rhythm – 70% expected new offers weekly, others said monthly or quarterly.

🚀 Outcome
The sprint delivered a validated vision and a clearly scoped MVP — ready for development.

During the delivery and pilot phase, I continued to iterate in small cycles based on new insights, helping the team learn and improve the concept step by step. This iterative approach ensured the experience stayed aligned with real user behaviour and expectations.
